Adriatic glamour where history meets a modern future
Tivat is the new face of the Bay of Kotor, a city that has gracefully traded its naval past for a future of sophisticated luxury. While its neighbors in the bay are steeped in medieval stone and ancient lore, Tivat pulses with a modern, cosmopolitan energy. Its transformation is a story of vision and ambition, centered around one groundbreaking project: Porto Montenegro.
For decades, Tivat was a quiet naval base, a strategic port for the Austro-Hungarian and later the Yugoslav navy. The remnants of this history, like the Naval Heritage Museum, still stand, offering a fascinating glimpse into a different era. But in the 21st century, a new tide turned. A bold investment transformed the old shipyard into Porto Montenegro, an ultra-luxurious superyacht marina that has since become the jewel of the Adriatic.
This is more than just a place to dock a boat; it is a meticulously crafted luxury village, a world of its own. Sleek yachts with gleaming decks line the quays, while a promenade winds past high-end boutiques, gourmet restaurants, and elegant waterfront residences. Here, the hum of the sea blends with the clinking of champagne glasses, and every sunset is a celebration.
But Tivat is not just for the jet-set. Beyond the glamour, it remains a tranquil and inviting coastal town. The city is a gateway to the stunning Luštica peninsula, home to some of Montenegro’s most beautiful beaches, including the family-friendly Plavi Horizonti (Blue Horizons). Tivat's own shoreline is dotted with charming coves and islands, like the peaceful Island of Flowers, home to a medieval monastery and pristine beaches. Tivat offers a unique duality—the serenity of a historic bay and the vibrant pulse of a world-class destination, proving that the best stories are often still being written.
